Two in a row! Vitamin is a funky fun ravey retro oldy-but-goody typeface from the font designer that everyone loves, Pizzadude (aka Jakob Fisher from Copenhagen, Denmark). Vitamin is supplied in both a solid and an outline version, making it a versatile font for party names on flyers, book titles, signs for smoothie stands or anything else that would need something cool and refreshing like this typeface. Download the TTFs and enjoy.

Basehead is the first font created by Boston, MA based TeA Curran from Grillecheese Fonts in 1997, originally created for his ‘zine “Xandu” and because he is such a nice guy, he has released it to the public for free. Why do I like Basehead? Initially I was drawn to this font by my love for grilled cheese sandwiches, and later appreciated Basehead because of the funky weird letterforms that TeA has used to create this font – it is pretty legible and remains strange. Download Basehead TTF from Grilledcheese.com.

Pusab is a fun one to kick off the weekend with, from Ryoichi Tsunekawa at Flat-It foundry in Japan. (Ryoichi also brought us the very nice sans serif Bebas that we posted a few months back). Need something fun, bubbley, bouncey, overstuffed and funky? Pick Pusab – a great font to use for cool bubbley headlines. Ryoichi wants you to smile. Uppercase, Lowercase (which looks just like a scaled down uppercase), lots of punctuations and accented characters, sure to lighten your design. Download Pusab OTF.

Sometimes one letter makes me like a typeface, in the case of Dimitri Castrique from Belgium’s typeface Qlassik it was the Q. Check out that funky elegant swashy goodness. The unique lowercase g is also pretty sweet. Supplied in a regular and bold weight, this interesting sans serif face reminds me of a slightly more rounded and funky version of Canada Type’s Informa family of fonts.Download Qlassik OTF and TTF fonts.

Veggieburger, one of the first font experiments from California based web, print and font designer Robbie Woodward at Woodward Works is a happy, care-free typeface with the legibility of a sans serif face and the light heartedness of a quirky hand drawn font (but not wretched like comic sans!). Supplied in three weights; light, regular and bold – it reminds me of a marriage between (apple) marker felt and (monotype) gill sans with a little bit of (adobe) Tekton mixed in, clean but still fun. Veggieburger would be great for summer time posters, cards, headlines, invitations, or grilled on a BBQ with some soy cheese. note – the lower case g, e, and a are particularly funky. A funky face from 2001 designed by New York based Harold Lohner, at Harolds Fonts – Inspired by the architectural lettering at the Basilica of Guadalupe, Mexico City. This package contains two versions of this face, Guadalupe and Guadalupe Dos – Guadalupe Dos doesn’t have the extra bits around the letters and is a little ‘cleaner’ looking. Download Guadalupe TTFs.
