Marko One – also known as Marko Horobchik is a brush-inspired typeface for children’s literature from Cyreal Type Foundry As the name suggests(Horobchik is Ukrainian for sparrow), the initial idea was to create a typeface-companion for Marko the sparrow — a cartoon character by illustrator and type designer Zhenya Spizhovyi. Marko Horobchik is simple and smooth, has special inner tension and eye-catchy detailing. The letterforms are based on calligraphy and sketches — this is what makes Marko Horobchik lively, enchanting, and amiable. Marko will work best in medium to large sizes and captivating headlines.
While it is technically optimised for better performance on screen, carefullyadjusted outlines promise good quality in print too. Download Marko One Truetype font.

Edgar’s Papercut (based on another free font that was slightly less developed called Paper Johnny) is a free font from Trier, Germany (the oldest city in germany!) based graphic design student/freelancer Lukas Bischoff. The font has a light, regular, bold and extra weight – with the extra having filled counters to add to its heavy cut out papery feel. If you are looking for something that feels a little crafty, maybe Edgar’s Papercut is a good choice. Download Edgar’s Papercut family TTFs.

Bohemia is a nice face from a new, young (20 yrs old) type designer based in Ecuador named Juan Casco. Maybe inspired in the Song “She Loves me not” of Papa Roach ….the verse “Life´s not fair”…this angry feeling. Rough, Hand-drawn, scratchy. Full of teen angst, check. Let out those aggressions .. Download the Bohemia TTF.

Quigley Wiggly from Maryland based Nick Curtis at Nick’s Fonts (he also did this funky germanic matterhorn font i had posted last year).. Quigley is a funky fresh script, when i first looked at the spec sheet for it, it didn’t really pop off the page for me – but set a few words with it, and POP! looks really nice and slick, flowing, fun and still legible. Download Quigley Wiggly TTF.

Some fonts have been around so long that nobody knows where they came from. Searching high-and-low, nothing about the designer. No old posts in alt.binaries.fonts, no old images from dover .. Well, Windsong is one such font – as old as the internet i suppose (what is that like 6 years now? haha) If someone knows someone who knows the guy that knew the guy that made this, or whatever .. let me know! Windsong is a nice, airy free flowing script typeface. Not really 100% super fancy calligraphy but a pretty nice cursive hand. Download Windsong TTF and let if flow.

Rock Salt, a nice face by Squid (aka Dave Cohen) a font designer, sculptor, illustrator and musician. He has executed hundreds of prototypes for the toy, ceramics and gift industries. Tiki mugs designed by Squid are highly prized by collectors of Polynesian Pop culture. Squid’s fonts are published exclusively by Sideshow Foundry. You can see his other musings at squidart.com. Rock Salt is a nice, casual script typeface. In some ways it reminds me of the Simpsons TV show font or maybe Bart writing on the chalkboard or something. Also worth noting is that Rock Salt is part of the Google web fonts, and that’s a good thing (click that link and check out the full character set). Download Rock Salt truetype font. Stay salty.

Buscemi is a nice hand-drawn type looking serif sort-of face that may have some practical applications for display use – containing upper and lower case but no numbers (they are what appears to be funky weird cool silhouettes of mister steve buscemi) from Florida based artist/comedian Rev. Josh Wilhelm, formerly of Spork Thug Typography.. click here to Download Buscemi Truetype font.
