The two-tiers font included in this archive, Day Roman, is a digitally redrawn version of what has come to be historically known as the “Two Line Double Pica Roman”, a typeface designed by 16th century French punchcutter FranÁois Guyot, and used in numerous books between 1535 and 1570, most notable of which are J. Steelsius’s printing of The Bible (1541) and Frisius (1551), Gillis Coppens van Diest’s printing of Erasmus (1544), Georgius (1544), Serlio (1550) and Horatius (1552), and Rotarius’s printing of Livius Brechtius (1549). The type was also used extensively by H. Dunham, and later J. Day, in London (the name Day Roman is simply a reference to J. Day having used the type). Original matrices of Guyot’s roman type are now in the Museum Plantin-Moretus in Antwerp. From 2002, Fredrick Nader at Apostrophic Labs. Download TTFs.

Neuton, a legible text face adorned with serifs comes to us from Brian Zick,an autodidactic type-designer, hailing from Arkansas, United States. Born in Pennsylvania, he has lived all over the US, and was homeschooled from an early age. His interest in type began several years ago, with web design, and lead him on to typography and calligraphy, eventually he tried his hand at designing types.

Copse, from London, England based designer and typographer Dan Rhatigan (also known as Sparky) is a family designed for the wonderful resource known as the Google Font Directory. Dan says “Copse is a low contrast slab serif that is a little soft around the edges, but with a clear and sturdy posture.” and I couldn’t agree more. Copse is a hybrid of a text face and a typewriter face, meant to hold up well if used at small sizes online, but produce a soft but clear effect at larger sizes. It has low contrast and soft edges, with some kicky ball terminals to provide a splash of color. Download Copse Regular TTF.

Buscemi is a nice hand-drawn type looking serif sort-of face that may have some practical applications for display use – containing upper and lower case but no numbers (they are what appears to be funky weird cool silhouettes of mister steve buscemi) from Florida based artist/comedian Rev. Josh Wilhelm, formerly of Spork Thug Typography.. click here to Download Buscemi Truetype font.
